Eastern Religions and Divinity (Dalai Lama)

The Dalai Lama has lived in Dharamsala, in northern India, since fleeing Tibet after an abortive uprising in 1959.

His aide Chhime Chhoekyapa was quoted by news agency Reuters as saying that "otherwise, the Dalai Lama's health is fine".

Doctors had earlier advised him to cut down on long travel and to rest more.

Last month, he cancelled two trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic as he was suffering fatigue, according to his advisers.

The quote taken from here raises a simple question: Even if the Dalai Lama admits he is not God (which contradicts the tenets of his faith), wouldn't one expect that as one proceeds and becomes "more enlightened" (i.e., as Atman realizes Atman is Brahman) that one (especially a master) should become MORE like GOD? If this is correct, then why in the latter days of the enlightened Dalai Lama, do we see his strength and abilities weaken and deteriorate?
