Evolutionist "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy

In an article at OneNewsNow, in a post entitled "Lawsuit argues expert biologist fired for refusing to believe in evolution", it's stated that "The Christian Law Association will be defending a biologist who it claims was fired from a prestigious institution because he believed in creation."

Of interest in the article is the following: "And what the scientific community seems to be saying to creationists or [those who hold to] intelligent design is if you're going to hold that belief, keep it in the closet -- hide it," says Gibbs. "[They are saying] if you let someone know that you hold that belief, we will indeed, in this case, shun you, terminate you, punish you for having that religious belief."

In the evolutionist world, it's not immorality but truth and independent thinking that's legislated against.

These kind of tactics of intimidation and retribution to uphold politically correct group think remind me of what went on in the segregated south in the fifties. Anyone who disagreed with the Jim Crow laws had better stay in the closet. America universities have adopted the same thinking that was used then. It is disgusting to see what has happened to our universities.

Good post Swordbearer. You have nailed it once again.

If you read the philosophy of science from Kuhn, where he talks about paradigm shifts, this exactly the behavior that precedes such a shift. It may take another 20 years, but the establishment clearly feels threatened in the face of questions that they cannot answer.

So August, are you suggesting the establishment is weakening and headed in a positive direction?

... or is it that unbelievers are more arrogant and positionally feel more in control?

    (or a case for both?)

Sword, it seems as if they are feeling the pressure, and the kind of behavior they exhibit towards those who are questioning the current paradigm is typical of what happens when these paradigm shifts start. Either the establishment will evolve (excuse the pun) and change, or there will be a new establishment that will replace them over the next few years as the current headstrong supporters get old and retire.

I don't know whether this shift will be positive or not, it may end up being replaced by another naturalistic theory, but change has to come to account for the levels of information found in biological systems, which Darwinist theories cannot account for.

Their current objections are philosophical, mainly along the lines of: "Saying godditit stifles research and will end all future scientific inquiry...etc". Of course that totally discounts Christian philosophies of science, while a-priori accepting materialism, and fails to recognize that we as Christians see God's work in everything we do. This is the result of the enlightenment, which relegated "religion" to an imaginary spiritual level.

As for the arrogance of unbelievers, I see that not as a progression of the underlying philosophy, but as a desperate attempt to try and rescue secularism and materialism by trying to popularize it. While Christian philosophy has made steady progress on several fronts, atheism has been backed into a corner of having to masquerade as a severe case of agnostic assumptions with a big dose of kindergarten atheist philosophy. But there has been no advance in sophisticated atheistic philosophy for a few years now, the same objections are recycled and presented.
